Streetscape

The pedestrian is the main focus of this project, along with the items that draw and interest them. Therefore, the goal is to internally connect the two main, highly congested roadways (Relief Road and Tankshal). The major streets don’t provide pedestrians adequate room to stroll and aren’t very interesting to them, therefore this interior street design will be solely for their usage. Some secondary roads that cannot be transformed into pedestrian-only streets stay as they are. Building pedestrian attractions is a bigger focus in this area; heritage buildings and institutional buildings are just a few examples on existing site. The goal is not to build items in excess street widths but to provide an open space program to the street instead so that it preserves the authenticity of the old city and also attracts people.
