Top-Down, Bottom-Up Urban Design Approach !

The studio is structured as an introduction to urban design representation and how its application as a tool to understanding urbanism in cities. In this way , the studio was structured on the study, representation and design of the key urban elements in cities and was fragmented in multiple modules running through the semester, each building up to an exhibition and this portfolio of my individual study. These modules will significantly focus on effectively capturing and communicating the spatial qualities of the urban built environment and the design of public places. The first segment focuses on perceiving and representing the key elements of urban intervention that come together to make any functional urban space. The second part focuses on the study of a detailed analytical study and representation of Urban Blocks and their relationship with the larger urban context, to inform the design of public places. The third segment focuses on design of Urban space in a given context after delayering the elements of the immediate surroundings.
