Revitalizing the neighborhood of Thambu Chetty Street

Thambu Chetty street is located between two districts, Muthailpet and Seethakadi Nagar. The street is known for its diverse range of commercial activities, including textiles, jewellery, electronics, and street food. Along with its commercial importance, Thambu Chetty Street boasts a rich cultural heritage with several historic temples, mosques and churches, including the Mallikeshwar Temple and Masjid E Ashraf, making it an exciting place to visit and experience the city’s history and culture. The project aims to improve the public and private realms of the neighbourhood by enhancing the historical structure's identity and the built environment. It includes initiatives like expanding sidewalks, adding green spaces, preserving or restoring existing buildings, or introducing public art to celebrate the area's history and culture. The objective is to create a community and place while preserving its unique historical character.
