With the increase is the infrastructure development (which has contributed to economic growth), the maintenance of the roads becomes vital. This dissertation presents the findings of a study that involved visits to various NHs and the conduct of safety audits. Short-term and long-term safety measures were recommended, and a road safety audit report was prepared. A blackspot analysis report and mitigation plan were prepared to understand the accident patterns and measures were taken to mitigate the safety issues. A survey form was floated across various NHAI executives to further understand safety issues in the maintenance stage of NH and the gap in the implementation of technology. Additionally, the implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) was recommended to improve road safety and traffic management. The study highlights the need for a comprehensive approach to road safety that involves both improving road infrastructure and implementing advanced technologies. The recommendations made in this study can help to create a safer and more efficient transportation system in India.
