The rise in the motorization rate due to rapid urbanization and economic development has led to a significant increase in casualties worldwide. As a result, road safety has become a major concern, with fatalities estimated to be around 1.25 million and injuries ranging from 20 to 50 million. In order to enhance the road safety management in the city, there is an immediate need for the identification of accident-prone area and their rectification. Road Safety Scenario in India is in a frightening condition as system of traffic rules and policies are futile. Thus, to improve road safety, Road Safety Audit (RSA) and Blackspot Identification are chosen as a mitigation tools. Road safety audit is a procedure which can be used for a formal, systematic and detailed examination of a roadway project to identify potential safety concerns of the road whereas Accident black spot identification is the procedure of identifying the location or stretch of the roadways where accident occurrences are clustered over a stretch of time. This paper focuses on Road Safety Audit of Arterial Road of Thaltej Ward in Ahmedabad which includes identify major risk factors associated with the road accidents, strategies adopted for prevention of road traffic injuries in developed countries, Identify the deficiencies in the audit checklists by reviewing different country audits and carrying road safety audit of selected stretch. Along with it also concentrates on analyzing accident data of pervious years to get blackspots in the selected stretch of road. It also talks about strategies and countermeasures for enhance road safety in the city.
