RDRP : Digital Soil Mapping of Anand City

Classical soil mapping cannot represent continuous changes in soil forms or soil types and cannot provide any information on the spatial variation of their individual characteristics. Index properties of soil such as specific gravity, moisture content, dry density, wet density etc. are the important parameters in geotechnical engineering and they are changing from place to place both along the depth and width of the stratum. It is important for the geotechnical engineers to know about variation of the index properties of soil before carrying out design and construction of any geotechnical structure. The thematic maps of different property are useful for the decision maker to reduce time for decision making as all information is in one system. Using digital soil database geotechnical engineer can run more queries of various combinations of properties of soil which will help in decision making. This research aim to validate the thematic maps of Anand city by establishing interrelationship between soil properties. Also creating soil property prediction model using available soil thematic maps and satellite data of the Anand region.
