Making models at various scales helps to understand a space--from detail to something as complex as the behavior and construction of a structural system before they are constructed on a site or in a manufacturing unit. Through this module, students learn how to work with various tools in the metal and carpentry workshop. They can make models which help them understand spaces and the form of an architectural design. By working hands-on with different materials and joining elements, they begin to understand details, and the models of structural systems to articulate a design better by ensuring that they understand the basics of load distribution and stress. The module also briefly introduces the students to more contemporary concerns with digital fabrication through 3D printing and laser-cutting techniques.
