Museum of Makers

In the Indian context, museums are seen as a space that contains or conserves the Past. Past is referred to as historical objects, monuments, events, theories, myths, and personalities. Museums focus on highlighting past events or objects. The current museums lag in expressing the actual making, evolution, contributors, and person who made it. The current city museum is about expressing the journey and evolution of the content. It gives a platform for recognition to the person or craftsman who played an important role in the making process of the content. It also serves as a repository of the city’s rich cultural heritage and history of craftsmanship. The museum showcases the various crafts and techniques that have been developed in Ahmedabad over the centuries and helps to preserve and promote these traditions for future generations. It would not only provide a venue to display and sell the products but also give them greater exposure and recognition for their work. The museum will work as a valuable asset for the city, helping to promote and preserve its cultural heritage and supporting its thriving crafts industry.
