GHG emission mitigation action plan for Solid and Liquid waste management
Waste contributes to increase in GHG emissions including emissions from landfill waste, emissions from treatment and combustion. When a product goes to waste, the energy and resources it took to produce also goes to waste, the carbon footprints are not addressed. Effective waste management techniques of refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle can substantially reduce GHG emissions leading towards a more circular economy.
Currently, there is no estimation framework or mathematical tool for GHG emissions from waste management activities in urban areas. This research aims to drive the city management for targeted GHG reduction and needed carbon sequestration in solid and liquid waste management sector.
