Institutional framework for planning and developing HSR Station Areas
In the state of Gujarat, as we are aware, planning and development is undertaken by the ADAs and UDAs under the GTPUDA, 1976. These agencies are functioning with a good amount of satisfaction and the practices of urban planning in Gujarat are well known across the country.
However, looking at the specialised nature of urban planning and development required in and around the HSR station areas, one may need to rethink about -
(a) the skill set required by the team,
(b) the statutory role and functions of the agencies concerned
(c) the overall institutional framework required at state level to support such a specialised and world class urban planning project.
