Electrification and transition plan of auto rickshaws and freight delivery vehicles in Surat

Over the past decade, Indian cities have been witnessing an increasing trend in urbanization and vehicle ownership with deteriorating air quality due to lack of reliable public transport services. Government of India (GoI) through its proactive initiatives and policies is aggressively pushing for E-Mobility, with an aim to switch 30 per cent of private cars, 70 per cent of commercial vehicles, and to convert 80 per cent of two and three-wheelers to EVs by the year 2030. This will require shift from fossil fuel-powered vehicle dependence and toward clean fuels especially in public transport (PT), and last mile connectivity by intermediate public transport (IPT).
