Daytime electric lighting use in Indian homes: Patterns and drivers

The profound effect of daylight on the health and well-being of occupants & energy consumption considerations and the preferences of daylighting over electric lighting for residential typology suggests that electric lighting should be kept to a minimum during the day. Electric lighting is a necessary supplement when daylight is insufficient for performing visual tasks or when the distribution of daylight is unsatisfactory in the given space. The purpose of this DRP is to study and classify occupant behavior patterns with respect to lighting. This study shall also examine two potentials drivers of electric lighting use 1) inadequate access to daylight 2)occupant behavior towards daylight sources.
