Contours of Collaboration

The project draws inspiration from the Kadiya Dhro in Kutch, a remarkable rock formation shaped over centuries by sedimentation and tectonic activity. These natural processes have created striking forms, patterns, and textures, offering a spatial experience reminiscent of being within a canyon. Taking cues from the earliest human shelters—caves—known for their unique sense of confinement and protection, the project seeks to reinterpret this primal spatial quality into a contemporary design. It tries to capture a similar sense of scale, texture, and atmosphere, focusing more on the emotional response and experience it creates rather than its precise physical characteristics. The aim is to create an innovation center in Mandvi that fosters collaboration between designers and artisans, serving as a platform to revive and sustain the traditional crafts of Kutch. By merging the raw beauty of nature with modern functionality, the project aspires to craft an inspiring environment that connects culture, creativity, and community.
