Temporal Continuity in Palimpsestic Architecture

Through archival study and site documentation conducted in this studio, we established the timeline and Cronocaos of the Chhatar Manzil palace complex. Following the understanding of the Cronocaos of the building, the studio exercises progressed with four interventions, each significantly complex in terms of its palimpsestic layers and guided by design prompts. Our approach to each design involved a deep reading of the building in terms of historical and material evidence on-site, unraveling all the construction layers, and using contemporary and compatible material palettes and construction technologies to add to the palimpsest.
