Moisture Trails

The primary focus of the study is to understand moisture content across various conditions in a valley ecosystem by examining the dominant vegetation species and their associations. The distribution of plants is influenced by the amount of moisture in different areas of the valley; mosses, ferns, fungi, and orchids are examples of species that serve as moisture indicators. The vegetation in the valley varies in response to variations in moisture, with each dominant species flourishing in particular moisture regimes. By shedding light on the microclimatic elements affecting their dominance, these plants and their companions contribute to our understanding of how moisture affects the composition and functionality of ecosystems. Furthermore, seasonal fluctuations from the high moisture levels of the monsoon to the low levels during the dry summer cause changes in vegetation patterns, providing additional insight into how moisture dynamics alter year-round, affecting plant communities and their ecological functions.
