The BARI Project: Integrated approach towards Regeneration of the UBDC1 Corridor

The Bari project envisions to revitalize the region through an exemplary model of sustainable development. It aims
to lay out an ecologically sensitive development strategy that integrates fields of agriculture, culture, urban
development and tourism with a holistic approach to regional planning that boosts the economic development of
the region and bridges the urban- rural divide.
In the process of development of the UBDC region, the project aims to revive the functioning of the Canal including
its contribution to irrigation, hydroelectricity production for industrial development, training and education as well
as water use efficiency by preservation of the hydrological system (sub- canals, drainage patterns, nallahs etc) that
emanate from the Canal. The DRP will provide field documentation and secondary research to inform the strategy.
