Antiquity.

This studio forms the foundation of the MAT program, exploring the expressive potential of structure through the interplay of construction and space. Adopting an inverse approach, it designs structural systems to define the program, emphasizing construction's role in expressing purpose and meaning. Students develop tectonic skills by understanding forces, material behavior, and system clarity through drawing, prototyping, modeling, and full-scale building. Focused on digital fabrication, kinetic facades, and spanning systems, the studio enhances detailing across scales and interactions, culminating in the design of a 200-meter high-rise that integrates force, materiality, and construction.
