The foundation studio delves into the connection between structure, construction, and space, helping students develop tectonic skills through hands-on prototyping and scaled models. The studio is structured around three main areas: digital fabrication, kinetic facade systems, and spanning systems, with the goal of designing a 200-meter-tall high-rise. It starts with parametric modeling and creating physical prototypes, progressing to the design of a kinetic opening mechanism. Throughout the process, the studio focuses on understanding the forces at play, refining system designs, and ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered.
