In the now re-imagined city of Bijapur, gradually healing from the devastating effects of a massive earthquake, a group of citizens took it upon themselves to create a multifaceted-cultural-centre which would help engage the mind, body and society by including libraries, a hammam and meeting-rooms, respectively. This cultural hub was placed in the direct vicinity of the Karimuddin mosque, the oldest mosque of Bijapur, which holds utmost cultural significance in its weighty walls and columned halls. The cultural centre thus emerges from one corner of the mosque itself, into cascading squares, creating an engaging tension between its tracts and fields.
