The concept of "altura" (height) shapes the design of a climate research institute in Mapusa, Goa, influencing both aesthetics and spatial experiences. In my design, the varying roof forms—such as a steep roof providing shade and the transition from flat to hipped roofs—create different interior experiences while guiding movement within the space. Located on sloping terrain, the building features a traditional sloped roof that blends with the lush surroundings, promoting passive cooling for the humid tropical climate. Locally sourced, climate-appropriate materials enhance sustainability, building a connection between the built form and the natural landscape, and encouraging interaction within the space.
