The design for this wellness centre draws inspiration from the theme of a forest. The site, located in the whereabouts of Khuldabad, a small town in Maharashtra was covered by an acacia outcrop on the north. The project attempts to incorporates characteristics like filtered light, density, clustering, and verticality to seamlessly blend the outdoors with the interiors. The site’s alluring outcrop, extending into the distance, creates a strong first impression. The clearings along with intertwined branches and layered foliage evolve into enclosures that evoke a sense of peace and introspection, two key attributes of wellness.Architectural elements, such as columns are used to mimic or extend the tree line and guide movement. Horizontal and vertical slits for openings filter light recreating the experience of light streaming through thick trunks. Partially covered spaces bring the dappled sunlight indoors. Semi-enclosed clusters, resembling smaller clearings, and enclosed spaces opening onto tree-filled courtyards further strengthen this connection. The design offers a tranquil space for individuals to reconnect with themselves and feel grounded in their natural surroundings.
