Divine Pathways

In an alternate reality, the Kailash Temple at Ellora has vanished, leaving only the majestic cliffs and the Shivlinga in its untouched form. The design brief was to create a Museum and Interpretation Center that would not only honor the history of the Kailash Temple but also offer spaces for gathering, reflection, and interaction. Centered around the concept of "conflict," the design contrasts the original temple's singular, restricted path to the garbhagriha with an open, accessible structure. The museum features two elevated buildings interconnected by ramps, that lead the visitors directly to the Shivlinga, creating a dynamic space of movement, exploration, and contemplation. This open, flowing structure promotes public engagement, while the plaza at the entrance offer moments of pause, connecting the site with the surrounding landscape.
