The program develops an interconnected network of practices for the salt pans and fish reservoirs in Nerul, Goa, based on ecological principles. The site features include the river, salt pans, fish reservoirs, and paddy fields. The Aqua-Salt Fusion project integrates aquaculture and salt production while advancing research on halophilic species and their role in salt crystallization. A central workshop serves as the core infrastructure, housing spaces for fish sorting, and storage, and a research facility simulating salt pan conditions. Quarantine tanks acclimate fish to varying salinity levels, and are carefully monitored for salinity, temperature, and water quality to ensure minimal stress during transition. Once mature, fish are introduced into ponds and salt pans, where their waste enhances salt quality by controlling algae, boosting oxygenation, and circulating water for efficient crystallization. Mobility is streamlined through walkways and boats, enabling seamless operations from fish farming to salt production.
