The program focuses on bridging the gap between community-led production of salt along with other value-added products and consumer access, utilizing waterways as a primary transportation network. This is achieved by introducing canals alongside the main bunds of the salt pans. These canals enable smaller boats to transport goods between the salt pans, testing grounds, workshops, and bringing it finally to a central hub referred to as the ‘Bridge.’ The ‘Bridge’ serves as a logistical and structural centerpiece, located over the reservoir ponds. It streamlines the transportation process by directly linking the salt pans to the main road near the Nerul River, significantly reducing the travel time and effort for farmers. Beyond its role as a connection point, the structure incorporates a storage facility for the harvested salt and other produce, along with a wood workshop for repairing and building the boats used in transportation. This approach fosters a seamless supply chain from production to export, enhancing the efficiency of the entire process.
