VaYu- an air purifier

VaYu is an air purifier that uses activated charcoal to absorb odours. When heated, charcoal becomes very porous and has a high surface adsorption capacity. This property of the material was used as the basis of the design. To place it in an indoor domestic setting, the charcoal has been cased using paper, rattan weaves, and a cane frame.
This project aims to improve indoor air quality, and in the process, many non-mainstream materials and practices were explored—from eggshell composite to fabrics, moss, and even papers of different porosities.
