'Lakeer' is a luxury hotel located in Ahmedabad, catering primarily to a business clientele. Drawing from the city's inherent lines and transitions, the design celebrates transformation through structured frames and subtle boundaries which are evident through the frames used in lobby and rooms. The restaurant within the space ' EBB&FLOW" draws from Ahmedabad’s linearity and the Sabarmati River's ebb and flow. The final design is deeply inspired by Ahmedabad’s linearity and the fluid movement of the Sabarmati River. The restaurant’s name, drawn from the river’s pronounced horizontal lines, reflects the dynamic ebb and flow of its waters, which fluctuate between seasons. The design concept translates this fluidity into space, employing progressive organic frames that create a rhythmic, dynamic flow throughout. The layout originates from the existing columns, extending alignment lines from all four corners to structure the space. A key design element is the organic ceiling, which flows through the space, enveloping the columns and creating an intangible boundary. The material choice of plywood, with its natural grain, reinforces the theme of ebb and flow. The flooring consists of polished concrete, divided into sections with varying finishes, while 100 mm wooden planks emphasize these divisions. The walls are clad with fluted wooden panels joined with biscuit joints and accented by blue powder-coated aluminum strips. These panels, arranged according to the golden ratio, mirror the river’s flow, bringing the natural rhythm of the Sabarmati River into the design’s details.
