Arche-Spiral Shading System

Glass skyscrapers are like a greenhouse, there’s no escaping the intensity of sunlight. A responsive light shading system can solve the problem by obstructing sunlight and overcome this challenge. As it’s a retrofitting there was the dilemma of how such a system can get powered without forming a dependency on the power supply of the building. To crack that conundrum we harnessed the abundance of untapped potential wind energy which was omnipresent atop skyscrapers and seaside buildings. This project aims to develop a self-sustaining kinetic system with two aesthetically similar forms, where one generates electricity to power the other, which is the shading device that is responsive to the direction and intensity of sunlight to give shade.
