Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH)

The Urban Management Foundation Studio (Monsoon Semester 2024), focuses on Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH) assessment through Facility Management Framework in Ahmedabad. Through asset mapping and site-specific evaluations, the study analyzes three SUH typologies—under-bridge, standalone, and newly constructed shelters—focusing on capacity, facilities, and energy efficiency. Key proposals include integrating solar energy, improving cooking facilities, and enhancing infrastructure. The project also outlines a transition plan to Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), promoting stable living conditions and social inclusion. By bridging gaps in shelter management and policy, the initiative aims to provide holistic and sustainable solutions for marginalized urban populations.
