Beyond The Bin: Reimagining Waste as a Valuable Resource

The project aims to address the persistent issue of waste in Vanjaravas. Generally, knowledge about waste management systems is limited and is often seen as something to be kept at a distance. This project addresses these issues by reimagining waste sites as dynamic, dialectic spaces - messy yet clean, functional yet beautiful. By integrating composting in parks and designing efficient collection carts, it redefines waste as a resource that goes ‘beyond the bin,’ moving away from the traditional discard-and-forget approach.
This project thus, envisions waste sites as vibrant, interactive community spaces where residents can gather, play, and connect, encouraging them to maintain these spaces over the long term. By reducing waste and health risks while creating inviting community areas, this initiative transforms the physical and social landscape of Vanjaravas.
