Industrial Growth and Its Challenges in Vatva

This portfolio explores Vatva , located in Ahmedabad’s south zone, focusing on its growth, connectivity, networks, land use, land values, and infrastructure. It also addresses the resident’s choices regarding jobs, housing, and transportation in the area. Once a rural area, Vatva has transformed into a major industrial hub, home to textile mills, chemical plants, and  industries, driven by its strategic location and transport links. However, the influx of migrant workers seeking employment has led to the growth of informal settlements and slums, where many live in overcrowded conditions with limited access to basic amenities. Despite these challenges, Vatva continues to grow with ongoing infrastructure development and urbanization.
