Vastrapur: Balancing Urban Growth and Livability

Vastrapur, in the heart of western Ahmedabad, is a lively neighbourhood that perfectly blends its residential charm with a buzzing commercial scene, all anchored around the Vastrapur Lake. Once an agricultural area, it transformed through strategic urban planning, including the 1990 Town Planning Scheme and the 2002 Lake Redevelopment. Today, its skyline is dotted with apartments, bustling malls like Nexus Ahmedabad One, and connected through BRTS and metro. Rapid urbanization has led to challenges, such as inadequate pedestrian infrastructure and limited green spaces. Addressing these issues by promoting inclusivity, walkability, and accessible recreation can help Vastrapur realize its full potential as a thriving, livable urban space.
