Sabarmati, a key neighborhood in the northwestern part of Ahmedabad, serves as a significant transit hub with Level 1 and Level 2 interchanges. Despite its strategic connectivity, the precinct lacks the vibrancy and commercial development typically associated with metro , BRTS and railway. This study explores the underlying factors influencing Sabarmati’s character, focusing on its urban grain, street hierarchy, and connectivity networks to understand spatial and mobility dynamics. It also examines land use, built use, and the public realm to assess how these elements align with its transit-oriented potential. Additionally, the study evaluates people’s choices regarding transport and services and the adequacy of basic municipal provisions. By integrating these dimensions, the study seeks to identify barriers to Sabarmati’s growth.
