Analysis Of Wildfire Occurrences: A Temporal Study

Wildfires, also called as forest fires, are uncontrolled fires that spread through forests and other natural landscapes. The terms, often used interchangeably due to their shared characteristics and impact on ecosystems. This study analyses wildfire trends in Uttarakhand, spatiotemporal distribution of wildfires and its correlation with climate variables such as temperature and rainfall, which reveals a significant relationship between them and wildfire frequency. Burn severity was quantified using indices like NBR, and dNBR for the specific year. The findings reveal the critical role of climatic factors providing valuable insights for improving fire management and mitigation strategies.
