Lighting and IDL and WBD I Monsoon Semester 2024

The project aims to design an energy-efficient building in Kolkata's warm and humid climate using the ECBC framework and Design Builder software. A base case model had an EPI of 111.22 kWh/m²/year. Optimization through the building envelope, HVAC systems, and mixed-mode schedules reduced the EPI to 75 kWh/m²/year. Renewable energy integration achieved a 38% electricity offset, by using the entire rooftop area. The final EPI after renewable integration was 41.28 kWh/m²/year, a 74% reduction from the base case. The payback period for the final design is about 16 years, whereas, for renewables alone, it is approximately 1.9 years.
