Lighting & Integrated Design Lab & Whole Building Design

The energy optimization project for a healthcare facility in New Delhi began with an assessment of the ECBC 2017, establishing a baseline Energy Performance Index (EPI) of 115 kWh/m².year. Through enhancements in the building envelope, HVAC systems, and passive design strategies, the EPI was reduced to 89 kWh/m².year. On-site renewable energy systems offset 38% of electricity demand, further minimizing environmental impact. Rigorous sensitivity analyses and simulations ensured effective performance across various conditions, balancing energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and cost-effectiveness, ultimately providing a sustainable model for high-performance healthcare buildings in composite climates.
