In the first semester of Passive Comfort Lab, we focus on the core principles of building physics. The course introduces key topics such as heat transfer, climate analysis, solar geometry, and psychrometrics. We learned how to measure environmental parameters and evaluate their impact on thermal comfort. We also conducted a practical project where we analyzed and quantified the thermal performance of building envelopes to optimize them. Using simulations, we study heat flow through the envelope and its influence on cooling loads. This integrated approach helps one to develop practical skills in improving energy efficiency and enhancing building performance.
