The monsoon semester emphasized building physics principles through theory, hands-on experiments, and simulation-based analysis. Core concepts include thermodynamics, heat transfer, psychrometry, solar geometry, and climate analysis. Students conducted experiments like constructing and enclosure with hot and cold compartments to study conduction, convection, and radiation in the outdoor environment. The semester culminated in building envelope simulations using DesignBuilder, enabling students to model, analyze, and optimize energy performance for specific climates. By integrating theoretical concepts with practical applications, students proposed energy efficiency measures to reduce energy demand due to thermal loads and improve building performance.
