Altura Riverview Residences | Suburban Housing Design

Suburban housing is typically seen as lower-density housing, with access to more private and public open spaces, with relatively lower land prices, and which is located away from the dense city centers. Therefore, the core concerns for suburban housing are not driven by higher densities but by the quality of the living environment and the design of housing units that are provided compared to other housing in the city. The aim of the studio is to explore and develop the ability to innovate housing typologies in diverse contexts. The design exercise will primarily focus on design solutions which are context sensitive and innovative at various scales. Students may also integrate ideas of climate-responsive design, building material and technology, landscape integration and resilient housing communities based on individual focus.
