The image of an art installation done on the streets of Mumbai in 2012 had become a guiding force for the museum’s design. This installation consisted of white cubes with fenestrations , wherein, when one peeped through them, one would be greeted by city visuals that could be
interpreted in one’s own personal way. This gave rise to the concept of the museum as- "A Periscope to the City".A major portion of the curator’s statement dealt with the importance of the engagement of the museum with the public. In one’s opinion, this could be done in two ways- by extending some of the functions of the museum out to the public and by engaging the public with the activities of the museum without actually bringing them inside. This would further help fulfill the mission statement by creating an awareness of the museum’s presence. Hence, one has tried to incorporate these strategies in the proposal.
