Breaking the fort wall of the old city it has expanded along the river and also has crossed the river in search of better living conditions. As the new development is happening which is somehow far more ahead than the old city of Ashaval (Ahmedabad), the city is somewhere losing its identity. The new urban markers like law garden, Patang hotel, Vastrapur lake, Gandhi ashram, malls are pulling the public activity towards the new city. To rejuvenate the old city, the government has proposed markers that will act as catalysts of public activity and add destinations in the old city for the people of Ahmedabad. As the river is the only big open space left in the city, the new markers will be established on the old side of the river. The anchor points of new markers will be along the existing bridges and it will evolve along the river as required. The in between space will be left open as green space for the public. The first marker of this entire project would take place at the end of Sardar Bridge near flower market of Jamalpur. Jamalpur has always been a very important trading location of the city. The new urban marker will be distinct and it would bring people from the other side of the river. With that, it should be as silent to give more importance to the existing markets. The new intervention will recognize the river front and take this opportunity to re-new the presence of the market in the city. One will not be able to see the market at first, but fields of flowers. The whole landscape will show people the natural methods of flower productions through flowering beds water body etc. All of this will be marked by an obilisque rising up that can be a place for people to gather and behold the spectacle of a live ecosystem within the entire city. With the boost in business, this can also be the platform for students, tourists and enthusiasts to come together, communicate and dwell in.
