The design was taken forward keeping in mind the primary concern of climatic response, as well as the tangible and intangible aspects of the vernacular of Punjab. The experiential concept for the design of this school, was to create 'spaces for healthy interaction' or communication. This was considered important for the personality development of teenage students. This brought up the idea of clusters of spaces around central courtyards (an element of the vernacular) that could allow for interaction at multiple levels. The form and openness of these courtyards were decided to make them perform as efficient moderators of the external climate.
