This studio will explore the transformative potential of design. It is intended for architects, who have returned to the space of academia, to critically engage with questions that often remain outside the purview of everyday practice. By asking what how architectural interventions can transform aspects of the human condition, the studio will challenge the idea of design as a purely formal or a narrow problem solving exercise. Students will be expected to engage with the social, political, economic, environmental, and historical dimensions of a given context and condition, and demonstrate how these may be addressed through architecture.
