The main character of the pols of Ahmedabad come through it’s narrow lane and compact organization of houses which initiate maximum interaction among the neighborhood. The local people here always enhance the experience of tourists by telling them stories and interacting with them along with giving necessary information about rich cultural and traditional heritage of Ahmedabad. Adding another layer to this character the otlas around or outside the houses gives a platform for interaction between the local people and tourists. Along with having a constant engagement with each other there is a very conscious sense of maintaining their own privacy inside the house. Recreating all these characters the ‘Bed and Breakfast Facility’ provided in Devji Sarai ni Pod of Ahmedabad which will not only give a stay, but also an experience of living in world’s First Heritage city. A multipurpose space on the ground floor around the courtyard engaging tourists among themselves. A part of ground floor as a permanent exhibition space describing the Heritage of Ahmedabad. This facility will have a complete combination of all the characters of a pol house and hence will give a perfect experience.
