The visitor’s orientation centre at the Chittorgarh Fort has been designed by studying, analysing and interpreting the architectural attitudes of Ar. Richard Leplastrier. As a response to how the shade provided by trees is inhabited in the culture of the Indian subcontinent, the project tries to create shaded spaces where which can be inhabited in multiple ways. The idea of fragmented structures, like patches of trees in a grove, is shaded by the roof resting on stone columns. The centre allows people to use the spaces while enjoying an unbroken view and connection with the outside.
