Located on the eastern belt of the Sabarmati river, the Ravivari market was started in the 15th century as a weekly affair for the public to buy things of daily use. However, functioning only on Sundays, this large span of space is inactive on weekdays, that is conducive to anti-social activities on this area. The entire area is a potential ground to accommodate a huge amount of public for any type of activity that could impact Ahmedabad as a whole. The proposal is of an AGRO EXPO CENTRE that houses urban farming, institutional zone and agro-based retail shops and exhibit its inner workings to the general public. It could initiate a cyclic system within the city where the produce is being manufactured and sold right at the heart of the city after passing through multiple stake holders from farmers to vendors to consumers and also stand as an epitome for the general public to adopt such green practices, if not at a large scale, atleast at a residential level.
