The intent of the project is to relook at ghats as 'City's Open Spaces'. The idea is to develop a public place that provides an enriched experience of walking down to the river for the people of the city to meet their occasional religious and recreational needs, while also serving to be a node for the communities living on the banks for whom the open space is as important as the river for their social well-being and community building. Hence, the project questions the design of ghats in association with its immediate context.
