Novel Transitions

The perceptions of the familiar images of a city with which people identify with a ‘place’ are a resultant of landmark qualities that the city elements hold. With the Larger idea of imagining a Nexus landmark hub adjacent to a major transit node, the project aims at creating a series of connected experiences associated to the idea of re-defining the image with which one associates Ahmedabad to. The proposition is to explore the idea of a nexus landmark being not just a physical entity but an experiential one that gradually transitions one from the edge to the nucleus unlike the commonly observed strong urban separations resulting into abruptness. Blurring the boundaries by allowing permeability at the edge while holding the user and generating curiosity at the transition, finally allowing one to enter the ecological nucleus, Novel Transitions are realised.

Soak I Reading the region I Vaishnodevi Precinct sees prominent Transit activity at the Nodal junction. The site holds significant potential to act as a Nexus hub with Landmark qualities redefining the ‘Image of the the city’.

Craft I Landscape Character I Planting Strategy I The Idea behind the Planting design was to establish 'Novel Transitions' by reinforcing the earlier identified spatial qualities within the Edge, Transition and nucleus zones.

Craft I Site Sustainability and Green Infrastructure I A Series of Water receiving landscapes in the form of Bioswales, Rain gardens and Constructed wetland to Manage on site and incoming Stormwater Runoff.

Craft I Site Sustainability and Green Infrastructure I Constructed Wetland Park Detail I A Linear Constructed wetland is proposed that acts as a medium to manage stormwater and gives an ephemeral spatial character to the site which allows users to interact with the seasonal waterbody.

Evaluate I Design Assessment based on vision Parameters I Evaluation criteria was derived on the basis of refined vision for the master plan under 3 heads i.e. Sustainability, Connectivity and community and neighborhood.
