The Urban Sanctuary project aims to bring urban agriculture to life as a means of increasing well-being and sustainability in cities. High-density housing is becoming increasingly common in rapidly growing cities. At the same time, people's access to nature is becoming increasingly restricted. Human understanding of how plants, including food crops, grow is also limited or non-existent. Such disconnection underpins many public health and social problems. The intention of this project is to reconnect man and nature by utilizing the unused space of terraces and floor space into useful greenery. It focuses on providing city dwellers with fresh, organic food that is more decentralized and eco-friendly. It provides opportunities for people to become involved in local food production and raise public health awareness. The project also focuses on community life. As opposed to living in a high-rise building, the project provides greater public space and minimizes footprint, allowing for greater interaction with the community. When people walk in, they don't just talk about work, they naturally set an agenda and have meaningful conversations. Farms give people the opportunity to discover different facets of others they can relate to and assist in the process of community building.
