 Sorabji Compound Garden, Nava Vadaj Walking through the streets of Nava Vadaj is a polarizing experience. One minute you are walking through a newly made, high-rise housing complex with clean, wide roads, nestled adjacent a metro station. But soon, you find yourself in the unpaved streets of slums - chaotic, congested and overflowing with life. These extremes exist together on the western bank of Sabarmati, along Ashram Road, making Nava Vadaj. It is a primarily residential area,with commercial peripheries, and multiple mixed used buildings. Life spills out onto the streets and makes them vibrant spaces. The site of Sorabji Municipal Garden is a part of this dense urban fabric and sits in the middle of our selected area.
