The vast expanse of the field and the strong impression of the undulating ridge, with fort wall as ornamentation gives a vivid and dual character to space. This concept of duality is followed in designing the musician’s residence. The musician’s house at the centre of the plot acts as a strong centre from which the surrounding structure evolves. The duality could be seen in terms of the light and heaviness, frontality and sense of entry(inspired by Panch mahal), enclosure and openness. The institutional part of the house with its thick walls becomes the fort wall that protects the inner residential part which opens up to the vast field.
